Std’s and TB, exist in the U.S. because of immigrants from thirld world countries.?

September 3rd, 2010

…. I went to a training in my office (run by the agency’s nurse) and she said that STD’s and TB exist and present themselves in the U.S. BECAUSE of immigration from thirld world countries.

I have serious issues with her statement on different levels. I have not been able to get info on this issue, and I think that is something very ignorant to say. People usually get tested for diseases when they want to apply for a US VISA and they live in high risk areas, so why would she say that?

Why would she say that?

Because she is ignorant.
Because she is a bigot.
Because she is afraid of people who are different than her.
Because it lets her feel superior.
Because it lets her blame her own STD on "those people" instead of on her own poor choices.

Who knows? The important thing is that you know that she is wrong. I would suggest that you write a letter to someone asking (not complaining, just asking) about this.

I would
a) be very very polite in my letter. "My father was an immigrant and I am curious .. "
b) ask for clarification. "I’d not heard these statistics before and since they are not in our study materials, I would really like to know where they come from so that I can be sure I’m giving out the right information."
c) copy not only your boss and her boss, but whoever scheduled the training, and anyone else you can think of who might get outraged and do something about this.

Good for you for being concerned.

I have Sky Blue American Express credit card, how much do they charge for out of country use?

September 3rd, 2010

I’m going out of the country at the end of May and I was wondering if anyone knew if American Express charges for out of the country use. I recently went to Asia and used my MasterCard and was charged a huge fee.

Also, does any one know if they charge if you use a debit card out of the country.

Any information would help, thanks!

Sky Blue – If you are tired of all those rewards cards that promise you a weekend in Las Vegas, but can only deliver you an overnight stay in Providence, then the Sky Blue card should appeal to you. Touted by American Express as putting an end to travel reward card restrictions, Sky Blue goes where no other American Express blue card has gone before it. With absolutely no black out dates and no travel restrictions, the Sky Blue card allows for card holders to travel where they want, when they want. But, it even gets better: 0% introductory APR and no annual fee; discounts on airline tickets, hotel stays, and car rentals. You even get free coverage on rental car insurance and travel accident insurance with Sky Blue. First and Third World countries. ?

August 31st, 2010

I’m doing a project on First and Third World counrties at school and It would be really helpful if someone could give me a little bit of help.

My main question is…
What are the differences, and what factors cause these difference between First World and Third World countries ?

I need to come up with approx. 15 sub questions and at the moment I only have the following…
What are First World and Third World countries? …
What countries are classified as either First World or Third World…?
Have these countries always been First World or Third World? …
Where are the majority or First World and Third World countries located? …
What would the lifestyle be like living in First World or Third World? …
Do First World countries help out Third World Countries? …

So if anyone could give me any more of those that would be great. And also any other relevant info or website !

Thanks.

:)

First off, the term ‘First’ and ‘third’ world are becoming a bit outdated. Most people now talk about the North and the South, as the bulk of undeveloped countries are in the southern hemisphere.

It’s not just about weather, most inequalities are related to the legacy of colonisation. War and exploitation cause most of the problems of the South.

Try these 2 websites. They’re Irish, but they have really good educational resources on global inequalities and international development.

How do you express correct or false by using sign in English country?

August 31st, 2010

In my country,I type O(circle) for "correct" and X(cross) for "false" to express them easily.Like:

Hallo is X (wrong)
Hello is O (correct)

I want to know how you type in easy way.

In the UK it’s a tick (which looks a little like a "v" but with the right hand upward stroke extended) for correct and a cross or X for incorrect.

Which country is the easiest to enter illegally and remain there?

August 29th, 2010

I have heard many people from the UK and Ireland state that there is a huge problem with illegal immigration. Which country has the biggest problem and which country is it easiest to stay in illegally? (Please take the size of the country into consideration before expressing an opinion.)

1. USA
2. UK
3. Ireland
4. Scotland.

The UK is an easy ride for illegal immigrants. They never ever seem to get deported!
They drive around in cars with no driving licence or insurance..nothing is done about it.
They pay no taxes as they work illegally..nothing is done about it.
They import drugs and have street wars over selling them…again the police seem to do very little.
London is turning into a nightmare with many areas becoming unrecognisable as English.
If you speak up or try to do anything about it you are shouted down by the insane PC brigade as a "racist" or "hate crime monger".
Our country has gone completely insane!!

I want to help third world orphans, raise money for charities, send clothes etc… any suggestions?

August 26th, 2010

I have a burning desire to help orphans/abandoned children in third world countries. I was wondering if anyone has any information on how I could best do this.

I do not have much money myself to donate, but I wish to raise money for charity, but which is the best one?? Which can do the most with the money?

I have small children so I can’t volunteer at the moment, (although I am looking into it for the future,) but I also have lots of clothes they have outgrown. I used to give them to charity shops here but have since read articles that seem to raise te question of whether or not all the benifits are actually getting through. Therefore, the best stuff I want to sell on ebay, (with profits going to charity,) but does anyone know if there are organisations that will send the other bits, (all good quality, just not named so wont fetch much) directly to the children that need them? I have looked online and have so far only seen projects in the US.

Any help/ideas/info appriciated
I am from the UK. And by ‘projects in the US’ I mean people dispatching goods from the usa. Not projects that I dont want to help.

Ok that is what I do.. I am in Romania working with sick/ abandoned children here. I am also unloading trucks from Denamark next week with cloths and diapers. I will also unlock my Q&A so you can go back and read some of my other post about the work I do. I am looking for someone out in the real word to work with me, doing exactly what you described. I am to cut off from the rest of the word here to do that kind of stuff alone. Feel free to email me.. daileyjoy@yahoo.com
